The memory of our airborne forces are preserved and honored in this National Defence museum through the sometimes heart wrenching, heroic and always human stories of the soldiers and jumpers who have proudly served Canada since the Second World War.

Visitors will discover the amazing and heroic stories of the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion and the famous “Devil’s Brigade” – the First Special Service Force, Cold War Units and the Canadian Airborne Regiment through dioramas, historical artifacts, videos and a large screen mini-theatre.

As a visitor to the Canadian Airborne Forces Museum, you will:

• Discover top-secret maps of Monte la Difensa and Kiska Island.
• View the war booty taken from German prisoners by Allied soldiers.
• View aerial photographs of glider landings during the Invasion of Normandy.
• Who did the Germans call the “Black Devils” and why?
• Discover the heroic story of Cpl Fred Topham, who was awarded a Victoria Cross for his actions during Operation Varsity.
• Learn about the heart wrenching story of Somalia and the demise of the Canadian Airborne Regiment.

On July 1, 2005, CFB Petawawa commemorated its 100th Anniversary. Part of the celebrations included the opening and dedication of a newly renovated and expanded complex that houses both the CFB Petawawa Military Museum and Canadian Airborne Forces Museums.
