CURATORIAL AND ARCHIVAL SERVICES

CFB Petawawa Military Museums provides a wide range of programs and services:

  • We collect, record, research, interpret and preserve items that relate to the history of CFB Petawawa and Canadian Airborne heritage;
  • The museum is a central repository for documents, papers, books, photographs and other archival material related to this theme;
  • The museum is a research centre for the interpretation of Canadian airborne and military history, and assists scholars and members of the public with their own research;

CFB Petawawa Military Museums is reviewing its entire collection. Objects and archival material that do not fit the Museums’ mandates, are duplicate or lack provenance will be removed from the collections over the next year or two. Research

Museum staff would be happy to assist you with your research request. For details please consult our research policy and complete the application form. There is a fee structure in place, which allows us to recover the related costs. Appointments to conduct research at the Museums are required. Please contact Museums’ staff at info@petawawamuseums.com for more details.

The Museums hold approximately 300 linear meters of archival material, including photographs, negatives, documents, diaries, film, and books, relating to Canadian Airborne Forces, the history of CFB Petawawa and a number of Canadian Regiments and Units. The majority of our collection is not catalogued or indexed. Please recognize this and be patient with your request. We will do the best we can!
